Root Canal Treatment in Oakville, ON
While some people may shudder at the phrase root canal, modern technology has made it a relatively simple and easy procedure. At Noonoo’s Dentistry, we take great care to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during the operation. It’s a common procedure we deal with, and we’ve had years of experience helping our patients. We use local anesthetics and pain medications to help our patients deal with the procedure with minimal discomfort. After your visit, there will be some soreness while your mouth heals. We can prescribe you medication to deal with this as well as over-the-counter pain medications. You won’t know if you require root canal treatment until you visit a dentist. If you are experiencing any of the following sensitivity or pain when eating hot or cold food or biting too hard, it’s time to schedule an appointment at our office. Call us today to reserve your consultation.
What Is a Root Canal?
When your tooth gets infected, due to unhealthy nerves in the root, the only cure is to remove the infected tissue. This is where the name of the procedure comes from. We perform this in-office to remove the infected nerve tissue before they start affecting other aspects of your mouth and overall health. Infected roots that don’t receive treatment can worsen and turn into abscesses. These then require significantly more involved procedures to remove them, often including jaw repair and bone loss. Throughout the root canal procedure, we will numb the area with a local anesthetic. We’ll then drill into the tooth to create a canal that allows us to remove the infected root. After we remove the decay and clean the area, we fill the space with a sealant to insulate and protect your mouth from further issues. Finally, we seal the tooth with a crown to improve its appearance and insulate it.
